In the spring of 2009, a new Progressive/Power Metal band was formed in Los Angeles. After various jam sessions and auditions, the right chemistry was found. The result was 5 talented musicians who shared the same passion. They formally proclaimed this new promising Progressive/Power Metal band was to be named Avant Guardian.

The band’s lyrical concepts include social issues, personal struggles, and other topics of every day life people can relate to. Their sound consists of speedy and technical drums, intricate bass lines, classically influenced keyboard/piano leads and epic orchestrations, heavy driven guitar riffs and memorable leads/solos, and powerful vocals along with backing harmonies.

Avant Guardian went on to produce, record, mix, and master their own self-titled debut E.P. in February, 2013 as well as their single "Pages From the Past" in June, 2013 (https://avantguardian.bandcamp.com/). The band has been actively rehearsing as they establish their own sound, refine their already written material, and most importantly work on new material for their future debut full length album (tentatively scheduled for a late 2015 release).

The band has seen many lineup changes since their inception. The current lineup consists of Adam on lead vocals, Denny on drums, Luis on bass guitar/backup vocals, Ryan on keyboard, and Will on guitar/backup vocals.

With their new line up in place, they begin preparations to make a name for themselves. Avant Guardian strives to become one of the finest acts in the genre the local scene has to offer. They have the energy and experience to capture the audience’s attention. If you ever hear about an Avant Guardian show, try not to miss it…they just might end up performing with bigger acts in the not too distant future...and this is a journey they wish to share with you from its humble beginnings.
